Saaremaa is in the middle of Baltic Sea and high-quality clean fish surrounds us.

The origin of Island of Pets is actually Saare FishExport, which provides fish for human consumption. For more than 20 years Saare Fishexport has been offering high quality wild caught fish products to different markets. Investments into innovation and technology has been allowing us to develop and broaden our client base.

We are in control of the whole chain ?from catching to packing and delivering. Our company’s trawlers are catching Baltic Sprat and Baltic Herring mainly from the Baltic Sea, where all actions are controlled by the EU.

But we ran into a problem. 5-10% of the caught fish is a bit smaller than preferred for human consumption. Just to throw away these fish?So we solved the problem and this is the story of why?
