The creation of Animal Attraction More than 25 years ago I (Rinus Massee) came into contact with reptiles and became the first animal (s) to come into contact with snakes. I was working in the port of Amsterdam at the time and one of my colleagues had to stop this hobby that I was still unknown to me.
I was always interested in the realm of animals and especially in animals that needed a certain care. So the step was taken quickly and I would take over the animals. First all terrariums built, furnished and all the necessary info and facts of the animals taken to me. A beautiful couple python molurus bivittatus and a couple Of Pantherophis guttatus (then Elaphe guttata) were allowed to inhabit my terrariums. After that, the reptile virus struck quickly. The reptile world is small and everyone knows everyone, especially if you join a reptile society. In my case, that was the Tilburg terrarium association in Tilburg. Our association evenings were always in the Oliemeulen in Tilburg. I have learned a lot from that and to this day I still have contact with the Oilers.
Every year there are the TTV days in the Oliemeulen and not a year is skipped to visit them (a real must for any hobbyist). Breeding was the next step and with great success. A lot of breeding has been discussed and currently there are eggs from our chameleons in the brood.
In 1998, the opportunity came to start a business from the hobby. After a major renovation to the building with the help of many friends and family we have converted the building into a beautiful reptile specialty store. On 4 January 1999 Animal Attraction opened its doors and since then we have built up a large customer base. My wife Inge started working in the shop full-time in the year 2000 and now we run this cosy shop together in Amsterdam.
For advice we are always ready and we take the time for the customers to discuss the e.e.a. if there are any questions or problems. We are happy with the customer base we have built and are still building.
